There are three stages of digitalization. Converting paper documents to digital is digitization, executing processes with digital tools is digitalization, and technology changing the way of doing business is digital transformation. Most businesses stay in the first two stages: e-Invoice is issued, e-Delivery Note is sent, processes are moved to the system. But decisions continue to be made as before, outside the system. Documents are digitalized and the way of doing business remains unchanged.
Moving to the third stage requires addressing four components together: technology, process, organization, and business model. The diagram below illustrates which of these components we establish and which fall under the purview of company management.
For this very reason, at A2 Bilişim, we assign a management consultant alongside an ERP consultant to every ERP project. While our ERP consultant structures the technology and process components, our management consultant addresses the organizational component in collaboration with company management; together with you, they determine which data informs decisions and who makes them, how authority is defined for specific roles, and how inter-departmental workflows operate.
The fourth component, the business model, is a strategic decision made by the company itself. However, the ability to make that decision depends on the established infrastructure: a manufacturer wishing to bill based on usage first requires a system that collects usage data.
